Biosecurity

We undertake biosecurity surveys in harbours and piers, and around any sub-surface structures that are liable to biological fouling or settlement. 

All of our divers are qualified to graduate or postgraduate levels in Marine Science subjects and have advanced knowledge of identifying alien species and sampling in ways that minimise any additional spread.

Tritonia Scientific can carry out visual surveys of the seabed using video or photographic techniques to collect information on key species and habitats, their abundance and frequency, and substrate type.

The survey information can be used as part of the supporting applications for aquaculture CAR Licenses, Planning Consents, and Environmental Impact Assessments.

Tritonia can use divers or ROVs to gather the visual data and can employ 3D photogrammetry techniques to improve data quality. This technique effectively negates issues such as backscatter and poor visibility to make analysis of the visual transects quicker and easier.
